8. Background and experience

Please briefly present your organisation.

NGO Spolek ActiTmel.cz is an association for youth established by motivated and well-experienced young people coming

from a cooperating NGO Tmelník z.s. which is active in European youth work since 2011. Our main aim is development

of competences of youngsters and young people through intercultural learning in non-formal education activities, with

the emphasis on youth participation and inclusion. We are a platform for young people in the age of 15 – 25 years with

a clear focus on providing educational mobility opportunities mainly for youth in the age of 16 – 21 years, equally the

talented ones as well as disadvantaged youth with fewer opportunities (NEETs, orphans, Roma) on specific projects.

ActiTmel.cz is open to everyone who would like to be active, gain some experience, try and learn something new,

regardless of their economic, social or cultural background. Locally, we are couching and mentoring enthusiastic youth

from the city of Mělník who would like to take initiative and develop their own youth exchange projects, and we also

offer them the opportunity to become part of other youth mobility projects and activities.

Our team consists of young people with few experience as well as already adult professionals who have implemented

several youth exchanges and training courses under YiA and E+ programmes. Our youth leaders are responsible young

people that have experience on participating in similar projects as they have been involved in several youth activities

before. They are fully supported by our professional adult staffs who are youth workers and social workers. Our team

consists of students as well as adult professionals with various profiles. We have active members who work for the

organization on a volunteering base; our steering members work on partly paid positions.

For the promotion and development of learning opportunities for youth we also cooperate with other youth

organisations, schools, high-schools, other civic associations and institutions (orphanages, “low-threshold” centres, etc.).

9. Activities and experience

What are the activities and experience of your organisation in the areas it works in?

We focus on raising awareness of young people and developing their individual competences through intercultural

learning experiences - in this way we are bringing Europe and European values more close to the youth. We try to

cover broad scale of themes and topics according to what our target group finds interesting. We focus mainly on active

participation, inclusion, intercultural and inter-religious understanding, European citizenship, entrepreneurship as well as

art and culture which we more often utilize as the working method. Within our activities, we promote and apply the

principles of tolerance to diversity, open discussion, active initiatives, volunteering, non-formal education and

intercultural learning.
