8. Background and experience

Please briefly present your organisation.

Down Activ Moldova is a non-governmental organisation working to support the social inclusion, personal development and active participation of children, young people and adults with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities, as well as their families.

The organisation is an accredited provider of social services, which reflects our capacity to deliver structured and quality support to vulnerable groups and to respond to the specific needs of people with disabilities and their families.

Down Activ Moldova develops educational, social, cultural and community-based activities aimed at increasing autonomy, communication skills, self-confidence and participation in community life. Our activities include non-formal education, creative workshops, art and theatre activities, awareness-raising campaigns, social inclusion activities, meetings with families and community events.

Our organisation is also accredited under Erasmus+ Youth for the period 2022–2027, which demonstrates our long-term commitment to international cooperation, youth participation, inclusion and non-formal learning. Through this accreditation, we have strengthened our organisational capacity, international partnerships and experience in planning and implementing Erasmus+ mobility activities.

Down Activ Moldova has experience in implementing and participating in national and international projects. In 2018, the organisation implemented a project focused on therapy through theatre, art and creativity. We have also participated as a partner in two international projects with organisations from Italy, gaining valuable experience in international cooperation, inclusion, non-formal education and exchange of good practices.

Our team has direct and long-term experience in working with people with Down syndrome and their families. This practical experience allows us to identify their real needs and to design activities adapted to their abilities, interests and learning styles. We actively involve beneficiaries and families in our activities and promote their participation in the local community.

Through our Erasmus+ experience, our team has developed competences in project management, participant preparation, organisation of international activities, cooperation with partner organisations and dissemination of project results. Our organisation is particularly interested in projects promoting inclusion, equal opportunities, active participation and the exchange of innovative practices for supporting people with disabilities.

9. Activities and experience

What are the activities and experience of your organisation in the areas it works in?

Down Activ Moldova carries out activities dedicated to children, young people and adults with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities, as well as to their families, with a strong focus on social inclusion, personal development, autonomy, active participation and quality of life.

As an accredited social services provider, our organisation has experience in identifying beneficiaries’ needs, planning and delivering tailored support activities, working closely with families, and developing interventions aimed at increasing the participation and inclusion of people with disabilities in the community.

Our regular activities include non-formal education, creative and artistic workshops, theatre activities, development of independent living and social skills, socialisation and community inclusion activities, awareness-raising campaigns, public events and activities for families. Through these activities, we aim to develop personal and social competences, increase self-confidence and encourage the active participation of our beneficiaries in community life.

Down Activ Moldova also has experience in international cooperation and Erasmus+ activities. The organisation holds an Erasmus+ Youth Accreditation for the period 2022–2027, which has enabled us to develop our capacity in international mobility, non-formal learning, inclusion and cooperation with European partner organisations.

Our international experience also includes participation as a partner in two projects with organisations from Italy, as well as the implementation of a project in 2018. These experiences have strengthened our team's competences in project management, preparation and support of participants, international cooperation, organisation of educational activities, exchange of good practices and dissemination of project results.

An important aspect of our work is the direct involvement of people with disabilities and their families in the activities of the organisation. Our practical experience allows us to understand their real needs and to develop accessible and adapted activities that promote equal opportunities, inclusion, independence and active participation in society.
