AGIS, NOTE et INNOVE

AGIS, NOTE and INNOVE (ANI International)

is a non-profit organisation founded in Paris

in 2002 by international students at

Sciences Po. ANI’s primary objective was to

educate on citizenship, raise awareness of

social inclusion, promote diversity and

intercultural understanding in the affirmation

of personal identities, improve socio-professional integration, and encourage

international cooperation and solidarity.

The main mission is to mobilise and

support

citizens from diverse backgrounds, particularly

those from deprived urban areas (classified

as ‘priority areas’ by the French Ministry

for Urban Affairs), and to support and

collaborate with other minority groups,

including women, migrants and residents of

other social housing estates in Paris, France,

Europe and Africa. Working with these

communities, we aim to encourage people

to reflect on and question their role in

their own circumstances, and to empower

them to take action on the social

issues affecting them.

ANI operates in three main areas: social

inclusion,

international solidarity and non-formal

learning.

ANI International focuses its efforts on supporting vulnerable young people and

adults who face systemic discrimination and social exclusion, including women,

migrants, former offenders, young people who have dropped out of school, people living in

marginalised areas, and those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The association’s activities at local level include:

Citizenship and development education: established in 2008, this programme

aims to bridge the gap between citizens and institutions in France. By

fostering a better understanding of social and institutional life, it enables

participants to engage more meaningfully with societal structures and

encourages them to participate actively in the life of their community.

Combating discrimination: since 2012, ANI International has organised the

annual ‘All Out Against Discrimination’ campaign, a key initiative to

raise public awareness of issues such as racism and anti-Semitism. The campaign

also provides tools to combat and overcome prejudice in society.

•

Training and capacity building: since 2014, ANI International has been

accredited by DIRECCTE Île-de-France (activity registration no. 11755130875) to

provide vocational training to young people and adults working in the social,

educational and cultural sectors. The association also organises Civic and Citizenship

Training (FCC) for young volunteers taking part in the French ‘Service

Civique’ programme.

ANI International is involved in a wide range of local partnerships,

collaborating with organisations such as the Missions Locales, Espace Paris

Jeunes, the Paris Anim’ Centres, prevention clubs and social centres, in order to

tackle specific challenges through tailor-made action plans.

In addition, the organisation runs reintegration projects for young people

involved in the justice system, offering workshops designed to promote social

inclusion and intercultural dialogue. These workshops use non-formal and informal

methods to foster constructive dialogue and enable participants to engage with

a variety of perspectives.

ANI International’s initiatives are supported by various funding

partners, including the French National Agency in Paris and Bordeaux, the

Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, and several

departments of the Regional Council. The association also works with local

institutions such as the Paris Departmental Services for Social Cohesion (DDCS), the

Paris City Council’s Directorate for Youth and Sport (DJS), and foundations such as

the Abbé Pierre Foundation (FAP) and the Interministerial Delegation for

the Fight against Racism, Anti-Semitism and Gender-Based Discrimination

(DILCRAH).

In Africa, ANI-International also works in Cameroon on development, cooperation

and the sustainable implementation of activities and projects aimed at

empowering local communities in terms of economic and social development,

by engaging and supporting young people from a variety of backgrounds. ANI

carries out its work in two different regions of Cameroon (one in

Yaoundé and the other 100 km away, in the countryside).

Here are a few examples of projects:

the installation of several wells in villages and public toilets, and

• initiatives to empower women to strengthen their independence through

• the promotion of a network of rural cooperatives. Indeed, since 2017,

ANI has been working with the Network of Cassava Producers and

Processors, based in Yaoundé (comprising 40 associations and

cooperatives in which 500 women work together, 90% of whom come from

rural areas), and has thus contributed to the empowerment of many

women in the production and processing of cassava products, by

encouraging the growth of cassava businesses seeking financial and

technical support, and by identifying opportunities to export the product.

the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such

as supporting social and professional integration with a view to

• establishing a ‘Cité des Métiers’ similar to the one in Paris

Since 2015, ANI-International has been actively involved in European

ERASMUS+ projects, both as a coordinator and a beneficiary, thereby

gaining experience within the KA2 programme.

In the field of youth work:

ANI works and has worked on European projects aimed at promoting social

inclusion and combating discrimination, sharing the values of empowering young

people so that they become active citizens in democratic life, promoting

volunteering and social inclusion, encouraging the participation of vulnerable

groups in the decision-making process and in the democratic life of the EU in

general, to contribute to the improvement of organisations that support young

citizens in building their career paths, and to strengthen the empowerment of young

people.

This experience includes European projects such as GameComp (learning through

play for sustainability skills) and Rising Voices, coordinated by ANI, which aim

to empower disadvantaged young women through civic engagement, leadership and

professional skills.

In the field of adult education:

ANI has been involved in European projects in the field of adult

learning, focusing on the recognition and validation of skills acquired

in non-formal and informal settings, the development of

entrepreneurial, digital, communication and leadership skills, and

supporting adult learners in learning to learn in digital environments, as

implemented, for example, within the framework of DigiLearn, coordinated by ANI, with a

particular focus on vulnerable groups such as migrants, women and people

facing economic and cultural barriers.

ANI is also beginning to apply for other European programmes such as Civil Society

Cooperation, Creative Europe and CERV-Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values.
